Mirchi and Aloo Curry Recipe (Long Green Chilli and Potato Curry Recipe) is an innovative recipe to use the green chilli in a curry based dish. The green chilli will be soaked and stewed with the onion and tomato curry which is paired nicely with potato.  The flavors are well balanced and can be had with any Indian Flat breads.

Ingredients

  • 6 Badi hari mirch (Large Green Chilli)
  • seeds removed and chopped
  • 2 Potatoes (Aloo)
  • peeled and chopped small
  • 1 Bay leaf (tej patta)
  • 1 Cardamom (Elaichi) Pods/Seeds
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick (Dalchini)
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 tablespoon Red Chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon Coriander Powder (Dhania)
  • 1 tablespoon Garam masala powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
  • Salt
  • to taste
  • For the Gravy
  • 2 Onion
  • chopped
  • 1 Tomato
  • chopped
  • 4 Cloves (Laung)
  • garlic
  • 2 Green Chilli
  • chopped
  • 2 sprig Dill leaves
  • chopped to garnish

Instructions

Step 1

To begin making the Mirchi and Aloo Curry Recipe (Long Green Chilli and Potato Curry Recipe) by grinding all the ingredients that is needed for the gravy incuding onion, tomato, cloves, green chilli and dill leaves to a smooth paste

Step 2

Now heat oil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and let it crackle

Step 3

Once it crackles, add the spices like bay leaf, cinnamon and cardamom

Step 4

Let the aroma release

Step 5

Add in the chopped green peppers, potato and sauté them for few minutes

Step 6

Now add in the ground gravy, and also add the spice powders including turmeric powder, garam masala powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and sauté them well

Step 7

Check for salt and add about 1 cup water and pressure cook for about 2 whistle

Step 8

Serve hot by sprinkling few dill leaves over them once the pressure is released

Step 9
